Togintei Yoshiteru studied under Araki Tomei from the Goto Ichijo school, and later became an apprentice of Sato Toho .He later married into the family carrying on the Sato name. The Sato family was of high stature, allowed to wear swords and with a close relationship to the Fushiminomiya branch of the imperial family. Yoshiteru's works include refined depictions of birds and flowers, dragons, performers, and auspicious festivals and scenes. This piece is a remarkable depiction of the Fuddosanson done in gold with extraordinary attention to detail, and well attests to the skill of Yoshiteru.
