Ishiguro Koreyoshi was the son of the Ishiguro school master Masayoshi and had the name Kanjiro. He studied under Koretsune, and subsequently took one character from his master’s name, and one character from his father’s name. He was well skilled and together with his father, he contributed to the popularity of the Ishiguro school, creating pieces depicting the Ishiguro hallmark motif of birds and flowers, executed in shakudo nanako base with takabori iroe. He lived until the 20th year of Miji (1887). This piece is a masterful depiction of birds and flowers typical of the Ishiguro school, incorporating various metals and minute carving, testament to the remarkable skill of Koreyoshi.
