Similar to the Goto Family, komino work first appeared between the mid Muromachi and Momoyama periods. Motifs range in style, but all incorporate dynamic techniques with bold carving, menuki executed in thin gold with pronounced height, and cut-out patters adding to depth. Executed on a thin gold base, this piece is an excellent depiction of flowers with remarkable attention to detail on the leaves, and well encapsulates the beauty of komino.
