Kacchushi tsuba, which emerged around the same time as tosho tsuba, feature dotemimi and kanmimi, and tend to be more vibrant in design with small cut-outs. The production of the mimi rim in kacchushi tsuba draws on techniques used in the creation of armor.
This piece features a thin inner ground, a thick and strong mimi rim, and a cut-out design incorporating kukurizaru, kamon, and a pagoda to convey a refined elegance which is a hallmark feature of kacchushi tsuba.
