Ishiguro Koretsune was the second son of the first generation master and showed an equivalent level of skill. His work displays a splendid style, and he is believed to have instructed the first generation Koreyoshi. This piece incorporates a bird and flower motif most representative of the Ishiguro School, with pauownia and phoenix depicted in remarkable takabori iroe. The menuki brilliantly incorporate much gold and iroe on a shakudo base, and the set well conveys the skill of Koreyoshi.
