Uchikoshi Hirotoshi was born in Mito with the original name Bunshichi. He later went by the name Enzo, and studied under the well renown craftsman Yatabe Tsuju, subsequently succeeding his lineage. He also apprenticed under Tamagawa Yoshinaga, as well as under the Hamano family of the Nara School. Based out of both his hometown of Mito and Kanda in Edo, he produced many finely detailed works while teaching a number of students.
This is a masterwork by Hirotoshi and features a depiction of the "Nezuminoyomeiri" story (mouse wedding) done in Takabori Iroe, and finished with remarkable Katakiribori on the reverse.
