Important Cultural Asset The Association for the Research and Preservation of Japanese Helmets and Armor
Provenance: Kato Yasutake, 7th generation lord of Ozu in Iyo Province
This Hon-Kozane work includes a Kabuto from the Kamakura Period with a small Menpo and Shikoro to balance the weight. The Janome crest of the Kato family is incorporated throughout the armor design creating an elegance appropriate for a Daimyo lord. The Important Cultural Asset certification documents and published catalog indicate that this work was accompanied by an Origami certification and scroll noting the provenance to Lord Yasutake, however the certification and scroll are no longer together.
